Nine primary schools in Cumbria have received a share of a £2,000 donation from specialist engineering and technology firm Delkia, aimed at fostering a love of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) subjects among young learners.
The initiative is part of Delkia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts this year, focused on inspiring the next generation of innovators and supporting practical science education.
Based in Cumbria and active across aerospace, nuclear, and maritime sectors, Delkia invited local schools to apply for funding dedicated to delivering hands-on STEM activities and developing relevant skills. The selected schools each used the grants to enhance their science and engineering curricula — from workshops and equipment to extracurricular activities.
“We sincerely hope our donations have enabled children to engage with tools and resources, explore scientific concepts, and develop essential STEM skills. Sparking curiosity today builds the engineers of tomorrow,” said Kurt Canfield, CEO of Delkia.
