Schneider Electric and DataCentre UK deploy modular data centre for South Warwickshire NHS Trust

12 November 2025

Schneider Electric, in partnership with its EcoXpert Partner DataCentre UK, has successfully implemented a new modular data centre for South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT). This strategic deployment enhances the Trust’s operational resilience, energy efficiency, and capacity to meet evolving healthcare demands.

In response to increasing pressures on existing infrastructure, SWFT sought a robust, scalable, and secure data centre solution. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Data Centre platform, including APC NetShelter racks, modular cooling units, APC power distribution units (PDUs), and Easy UPS systems, was selected to optimize resilience, efficiency, and sustainability.

“We integrated Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Data Centre solutions into the design—these pre-engineered, configurable, and scalable systems encompass racks, power, cooling, and management, all aimed at maximizing resiliency and environmental sustainability. The trust trusted our expertise and approved the build,” said Paul Almond, MD of DataCentre UK and an EcoXpert Partner.

The new infrastructure has delivered notable energy reductions, cutting data centre power costs by at least 60% compared to previous setups. Its proactive monitoring features ensure continuous performance optimization, aligning with SWFT’s Green Plan initiatives.

“Our system was built around sustainability. We are conservatively using 60% less electricity for the same IT load, with an expected annualized Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2,” said Mike Conlon, Associate Director of Technology Services at Innovate Healthcare Services.

The deployment included a comprehensive 365-day maintenance and support agreement managed jointly by DataCentre UK and Schneider Electric, ensuring ongoing operational excellence.

“Data centres are critical to healthcare delivery, so reliability, scalability, and sustainability are paramount. Our solutions have enabled SWFT to significantly improve their environmental footprint while ensuring exceptional operational performance — building a resilient environment for the future of healthcare,” said Karlton Gray, Director of Channels for UK & Ireland at Schneider Electric.

This deployment exemplifies how advanced data centre solutions can drive digital transformation, enhance patient care, and foster continuous innovation within healthcare environments.
