Elimination of Edge Network Vulnerabilities – Mission Impossible?

03 June 2025

The NIS2 Directive, currently be implemented across EU member states will impose stricter requirements on cybersecurity practices, asset visibility, and risk management. This will take on higher urgency at the network perimeter, where IT resources are in the greatest state of flux.

Currently, as of May 2025 nine member states have fully transposed the NIS2 Directive into national laws for their countries. The heat is on for the remaining 18 to get it done sooner rather than later. Regardless of which country (or countries) your organizations reside, it’s time to begin thinking right now about how you will comply to avoid potential fines.

The edge network present unique challenges not faced by most other environments:

• Increased attack surface linked to the explosion in the number of endpoints, including headless IoT, OT, and other unmanaged assets
• Unsecured connections and ubiquitous connectivity
• Network architecture complexities and device/network misconfigurations

Making it worse is many traditional security tools can leave gaps here at the perimeter. To learn more about how you can plug these holes and boost your defenses check out this blog “Elimination of Edge Network Vulnerabilities – Mission Impossible?”.
