Currys rolls out VoCoVo headsets in all UK stores to improve safety and communication

29 May 2025

Currys is set to equip all staff across its 301 UK and Ireland stores with VoCoVo Series 5 Pro Headsets, following a successful trial in 20 outlets.

The initiative aims to combat rising shoplifting, retail crime, and aggression towards staff by enhancing in-store communication and security.

By the end of the month, every shop floor employee will have a headset to enable instant staff communication, improving security and customer service. Additionally, call points are being installed to allow customers to request help via a button, alerting staff directly to reduce wait times.

Matthew Speight, Currys UK Stores Director, emphasized that increasing theft and aggression are unacceptable, and the headsets, along with other safety measures, will help protect staff and customers. The broader strategy aligns with industry concerns about retail crime and staff wellbeing.

VoCoVo, a global retail communications provider, is supporting the rollout, with the headsets already used in over 20,000 stores worldwide. Olivia Robinson from VoCoVo expressed pride in partnering with Currys and supporting its safety and operational resilience.

This investment represents Currys’ largest safety and staff wellbeing initiative to date, reflecting its commitment to employee protection, customer experience, and operational efficiency amid ongoing industry challenges.
