Panasonic improves Eurostar’s IT suite with new close control cooling units

Eurostar's maintenance depot recently upgraded its IT suite's air conditioning system by replacing outdated units with advanced Panasonic P Series close control cooling technology.

Collaborating with installers Mac-Mech and Co and distributors Logicool, Eurostar has successfully implemented two units — models UPU30 and UPU50 (30kW and 50kW) — to enhance energy efficiency and reliability.

“The Panasonic P Series close control units installed by Mac-Mech and Co in our 2nd floor IT suite are superior to the previous options. They are quieter, more efficient, and more cost-effective to maintain. The installation process was streamlined and straightforward, and we plan to replace the remaining four older units on-site with Panasonic units over the next two years,” said Vince King, Eurostar’s Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

The P Series units are designed to maintain precise control over room temperatures and humidity levels, making them ideal for data centre applications. They feature a high energy efficiency ratio (EER) and low operating costs, offering tailored cooling solutions for various specialized environments.

“The old units were over 20 years old and ineffective. After assessing competitors, we found that Panasonic units had shorter lead times, better value, and were easier and faster to install due to accessible connections and straightforward setup instructions,” said Matt Campbell, Contractors Manager at Mac-Mech and Co.

“We were thrilled to partner with Mac-Mech on this project. Panasonic's P Series units were the perfect fit for our client’s needs, allowing us to propose an efficient and cost-effective solution. We're pleased to see both the contractor and the end-user satisfied with the product's performance,” said Karl Richardson, Managing Director and Climate Control Specialist at Logicool Air Conditioning & Heat Pumps Limited.
