The deal will encompass SCC’s data centres in Birmingham and Fareham, alongside the transfer of a robust portfolio of colocation-only clients to Pulsant. This transition is expected to provide long-term stability and growth opportunities for existing clients, team members, and the facilities themselves. Furthermore, Pulsant and SCC will forge a strategic partnership to offer critical colocation services throughout the UK, extending access to Pulsant’s extensive network for all SCC customers.
The Birmingham-based Cole Valley data centre is strategically located central to the UK, making it a valuable addition to Pulsant's geographical footprint. The facility boasts an initial power capacity of approximately 2MW, with potential for expansion to meet growing demand. The Fareham data centre is designed as a modern carrier-neutral facility, supporting a diverse range of colocation clients, and features a slightly higher power capacity of around 3MW. Both locations provide a total of 25,000 square feet of data centre white space.
"With the addition of two new data centres, we’ve expanded our UK coverage, strengthening our presence near key economic hubs that have traditionally been underserved in terms of digital infrastructure — particularly Birmingham, the UK’s second city. This will enable more businesses to benefit from Pulsant’s unique network of data centres and platformEDGE to reach new markets and grow their organisations. We’re excited to welcome and support the high-quality client base transitioning to Pulsant and look forward to fostering their continued growth,” said Rob Coupland, CEO of Pulsant.
“SCC has been carefully reviewing options for the future of our data centres for some time. A clear priority was to find a specialist partner that will continue to invest in and operate these facilities for the long term and with whom we can build a strategic relationship for the provision of these services to our clients,” said James Rigby, Co-CEO of SCC.
As part of the acquisition, data centre engineers and operational staff from both locations will join Pulsant upon the deal's completion, anticipated in April 2025. This integration aims to leverage combined expertise in delivering high availability services while optimizing performance and cost for clients.
