Telehouse signs 10-year PPA with RWE for renewable energy

18 March 2025

Telehouse International Corporation of Europe has announced a significant milestone in its sustainability efforts by signing a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with RWE, the UK’s largest power generator and a leading renewable energy firm.

This collaboration will ensure that a substantial portion of the renewable energy required at Telehouse’s London Docklands campus will be supplied by RWE until the end of 2035.

The PPA, set to commence in October 2025, will draw electricity from the London Array offshore wind farm, located in the outer Thames Estuary. This agreement not only secures a reliable supply of power for Telehouse and its customers but also reinforces the company's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency over the coming years.

"Telehouse is committed to enhancing energy efficiency, promoting green procurement, and reducing our carbon footprint and that of our customers. Thanks to this PPA with RWE, the electricity purchased for our London Docklands campus will continue to be derived from renewable energy sources, demonstrating our efforts to drive efficiency at our campus and deliver real benefits for our customers,” said Mushtaq Choudhary, Head of Procurement at Telehouse Europe.

"This power purchase agreement ensures Telehouse and its customers have reliable access to clean, renewable electricity, providing certainty on price and the robustness of supply. We are pleased to support Telehouse in its decarbonization efforts as our goal is to advance climate protection in all sectors of the economy with clean energy solutions,” said Olaf Lubenow, Head of Commodity Solutions UK, North & South Europe of RWE Supply & Trading.

The London Array, operated by RWE and developed by a consortium that includes RWE, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Greencoat UK Wind PLC, and Masdar Energy UK Limited, features 175 wind turbines with an impressive installed capacity of 630MW. It was the world's largest offshore wind farm from its opening in 2013 until September 2018.
