Pulsant announces nationwide edge upgrade

09 September 2024

Pulsant has announced a nationwide initiative to revamp all platformEDGE facilities.

The strategy aims to improve and standardise the end-user experience for platformEDGE users. The new data centre design will be based on the recent overhaul of the company’s Croydon facility.

The successful changes to the Croydon data centre inspired the company to implement similar changes across all platformEDGE sites. Key features of the upgraded data centres include improved meeting spaces, upgraded build rooms with build bays and testing, and enhanced site security protocols to streamline access.

“The success of our Croydon site redesign has shown us the value in that approach and this nationwide roll-out reflects our dedication to ensuring that all our clients, regardless of which data centre they use, enjoy the same level of experience and support from Pulsant,” said Ben Cranham, COO at Pulsant.

The data centre redesign is part of Pulsant’s broader strategy to accelerate digital transformation across the UK. The company’s platformEDGE network leverages 100Gbps Zayo fibre, low-latency connectivity, and a distributed compute and storage program for edge workloads. This allows regional businesses to improve performance, drive transformation, and scale operations effectively.

Upgrading data centre operations across the UK is aligned with Pulsant’s recent activity, with investments of £3 million in Rotherham, South Yorkshire and £4.5 million in Manchester.

“For regional businesses to thrive, they need access to a high bandwidth, low latency interconnection network. This investment in Manchester extends our commitment to support the growing technology demand for regional data centre access and colocation services across the North West,” said Cranham.
