Emerson Network Power (ENP) has designed and built two fully integrated cable landing stations on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean to securely connect Hibernia Express, the submarine fibre system recently launched by Hibernia Networks.
The cable runs from two landing stations in Canada and the UK. Each station is around 1,700 square feet, and complies with building code regulations and governmental standards of the applicable country.
ENP says the landing stations comprise several prefabricated modules that were assembled on site. They were deployed concurrently and completed seven months from the start of work. The vendor claims this is more than 40 per cent faster than the typical deployment time for traditional brick-and-mortar facilities.
ENP says it was chosen by Hibernia because of its previous experience of deploying cable landing stations to harsh, seafront environments. It adds that its ability to deliver efficient, reliable cooling systems under such conditions were also key differentiators.
The company claims the safe and secure prefab landing stations are designed to achieve the industry’s highest standards for energy efficiency and PUE.
ENP’s ‘SmartMod’ landing stations in Canada (pictured) and the UK were built concurrently in just seven months.
ENP has installed its Liebert DSE and PDX thermal management units to realise the benefits of the cool climate without introducing salty, corrosive sea air into the IT environment.
The firm says the installation also includes its high-efficiency NetSure DCpower systems with secure remote monitoring and control, ASCO automatic transfer switches and switchgear, inverters, VRLA batteries, and other support infrastructure.
