The London Internet Exchange (LINX) has launched its Cloud Connect service at LINX Manchester, giving members direct access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) through their existing LINX ports.
LINX says the service, which went live in October 2026 following requests from UK members, reduces latency, increases resilience and improves control over cloud connectivity. Cloud Connect is now available at both LON1 in London and Manchester.
The announcement came as LINX presented at Capacity Europe in London with a refreshed brand, as part of a three-year strategy launched in 2026 focused on strengthening the UK interconnected network.
Manchester growth
LINX Manchester has over 130 connected networks across five data centre partner access points. Its traffic passed 1Tbps earlier in 2026, placing it among the top 10 internet exchanges in Europe.
LINX operates five IXPs across England, Scotland and Wales, is part of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure and has more than 900 members, over 75% of which connect at LON1 and LON2 in London. Its Metro Resilience pricing initiative, launched earlier in 2026, offers lower prices for mirrored ports and services across LON1 and LON2, and LINX says it returned over £41k in savings to members in July alone.
Jennifer Holmes, CEO, LINX, said: “From automation to scalable ports and product innovation, we want to deliver the best service to our members, which ultimately means the best online experience for end users in the UK and beyond.”
She added: “A strong focus and growth in the North of the UK is also part of our strategy for the next three years. This may be new strategic partners or product innovation, but our core services and member experience, including our technical expertise and 24/7 NOC remains constant and to a high level.”
