Infracapital-backed alternative network operator and internet service provider Ogi has extended its full fibre spine across Cardiff, boosting connectivity for local businesses following a successful partnership to connect Cardiff Arms Park as an anchor tenant.
The company, which has already deployed its FTTP broadband network to over 100,000 homes and businesses in South Wales, is now focusing on expanding its presence in Cardiff’s city centre and surrounding areas.
The recent expansion includes connections to some of Cardiff’s most well-known food and drink retailers, with Ogi’s new fibre infrastructure running through the westgate entrance to Central Square. Work is ongoing in areas around Cardiff Bay and north Cardiff, with an increasing number of city centre businesses now onboard, benefitting from the ultrafast, enterprise-grade connectivity that Ogi provides.
Ogi is home to more than 20,000 customers and operates with backing from £200 million invested by Infracapital, alongside a £45 million financing package from Cardiff Capital Region. The ISP employs approximately 200 staff and originally set a target to cover 150,000 premises across South Wales by 2025.
In recent financial disclosures, Ogi’s parent company, Spectrum Fibre Limited, reported a turnover of £7.8 million for the year ending December 2024, up from £4.2 million in 2023. However, the company also posted a significant loss of £32.9 million for the same period, compared to a loss of £26.8 million in 2023. Total assets after deducting current liabilities stood at £102.6 million, slightly down from £110.6 million in 2023, with net liabilities increasing to £88.2 million from £55.2 million. The company did not provide updates on the number of premises passed or customer figures in their latest accounts.

It means we can offer business-grade services to more and more businesses across the capital, with ultrafast speed and enterprise-level support baked in,” said Andy Dow, Ogi’s Director of Business Sales.
