Building on its existing infrastructure — a 700km dedicated fibre optic network covering most of Central London’s Zones 1 and 2 — the company aims to provide reliable, enterprise-grade connectivity solutions tailored for government and public sector needs.
Vorboss’s existing network connects all commercial buildings in central London directly to internet and Ethernet services. Now, the company plans to extend its offerings to public sector entities such as councils, transport authorities, and service providers, enabling them to connect and manage a wide array of devices including traffic cameras, CCTV, environmental sensors, small cells, and IoT-connected street furniture. The new solutions promise low latency and resilient connectivity, crucial for real-time data and critical public safety applications.
Backed by approximately £250 million in investment from Fern Trading — advised by Octopus Investments — and collaborating with Vitrifi on PON-based networking solutions, Vorboss emphasises its commitment to supporting smart city initiatives. The company highlights that its solutions are designed to be quick to deploy, cost-effective, and highly reliable, addressing the challenges local authorities face in integrating connected devices across boroughs.
“We’ve listened to local government organisations over the past year about their difficulties in finding reliable and affordable connectivity solutions. Through consultation and innovation, we’ve developed a fibre-based platform that is both dependable and quick to install. With this launch, we aim to help cities become safer, more efficient, and better connected,” said Jason O’Malley, Chief Commercial Officer of Vorboss.
