Built entirely on Microsoft technologies such as Azure, Power BI, Entra ID, Teams, and .NET, the Dayforce platform aims to enhance interoperability between systems, accelerate product improvements, and maximise the value of organisations’ investments in Microsoft products.
Many organisations face the challenge of managing fragmented workflows across HR, payroll, and other business functions, often relying on siloed systems that lead to manual processes and inefficiencies. To address this, the integration leverages Microsoft Copilot Studio to embed customised AI agents directly within the Dayforce platform, creating a unified and personalised experience. These AI agents will have secure access to workforce data — including employee information and payroll insights — within familiar workplace environments, facilitating seamless data exchange and process automation.
Joe Korngiebel, Chief Strategy, Product, and Technology Officer at Dayforce, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating that utilising the full Microsoft technology stack allows organisations to unlock greater value from their existing investments. He emphasised that the new AI-driven approach aims to automate routine tasks, improve decision-making, and empower leaders with smarter tools, ultimately enhancing daily workflows and driving meaningful business impact.
The platform’s AI agents will be customisable and deployable through APIs and Microsoft Copilot Studio, helping streamline processes, simplify decision-making, and boost productivity. Additionally, the integration emphasises secure interoperability, enabling organisations to connect with third-party applications and adopt the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for smooth data exchange and workflow automation across various business systems. This cross-domain capability allows, for example, IT managers to develop agents that answer policy questions or present workforce insights within Microsoft tools, fostering a connected and efficient operational environment.
Microsoft’s CTO Mark Russinovich underscored the strategic importance of the partnership, noting that it combines the security, scale, and performance of Azure with Dayforce’s innovative AI capabilities. He highlighted that this collaboration helps organisations accelerate innovation, empower employees, and thrive in a new era of work by delivering trusted AI solutions on a secure cloud foundation.
The new integration enables organisations to create AI agents for a variety of tasks, such as automating repetitive HR and payroll activities or providing decision support to managers. By designing these solutions on a single platform, Dayforce aims to reduce reliance on multiple modules and integrations, simplifying deployment and ongoing maintenance. Overall, the platform is targeted at organisations seeking to maximise their technological investments by extending, securing, and unifying operational workflows, while making HR and payroll interactions simpler for employees and more empowering for leaders.
