Netmore Group partners with Detectronic to deploy extensive sewer monitoring network for Yorkshire Water

Netmore Group has announced a strategic partnership with UK-based environmental and engineering firm Detectronic, specialising in utilities and pollution prevention.

The collaboration aims to enhance wastewater management in Yorkshire Water’s region through the deployment of over 90,000 sewer monitors as part of a major telemetry programme.

Over the next five years, the project will see the installation of 65,000 Pressure Alarm (PAL) sensors and 27,000 LIDoTT Alarms, forming one of the most comprehensive sewer monitoring networks globally. This initiative leverages Netmore’s LoRaWAN network infrastructure, which is currently being deployed and densified across the region to support Yorkshire Water’s ambitious 1.3 million smart meter exchange programme. This regional advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) will not only facilitate the water utility’s service improvements but also enable Detectronic’s sensors to operate effectively.

A key component of this collaboration is the integration of Detectronic’s first LoRaWAN-enabled product, a domestic sewer alarm designed for residential gullies and shallow chambers. The long-range, battery-powered PAL sensors will transmit highly precise data, supporting Yorkshire Water’s environmental protection and operational efficiency goals.

It also demonstrates how a network initially deployed for smart metering can be adapted to support a wide range of water utility applications, meeting the evolving needs of communities and service providers,” said Vadim Lyu, UK Managing Director at Netmore.

The PAL sensor represents the first step in our roadmap to develop more LoRaWAN-compatible devices that enable long-range, battery-operated monitoring solutions,” said Gavin Wagstaff, Product and Data Director at Detectronic.

“We are also responsible for the ongoing maintenance of all sensors over the five-year framework. To support this major project, we are expanding our operations and establishing a new base in Yorkshire, creating a range of employment opportunities in the region,” said Rob Button, Service Delivery Director at Detectronic.

This collaboration reinforces Netmore’s longstanding relationship with Yorkshire Water, exemplifying a shared commitment to deploying innovative smart water solutions that protect the environment and bolster operational resilience.
