The National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG) is partnering with NatWest Group to enhance cybersecurity awareness among the bank’s employees, particularly those supporting charitable organisations and SMEs. This initiative aims to equip staff with the knowledge and resources needed to guide clients effectively in strengthening their cyber defenses.
Recently, the collaboration included a webinar for Relationship Managers working with charities, providing guidance on how to direct customers to NCRCG’s in-person training sessions and online tools. NatWest plans to expand this educational effort to Relationship Managers across various sectors, with the broader goal of supporting a wider range of small and medium-sized enterprises within its customer base.
Beyond this partnership, NatWest offers a suite of online courses and webinars designed to reinforce fundamental cybersecurity skills among its customers. As a Founding National Ambassador of NCRCG — a network of nine police-led regional centres across England and Wales — the bank plays a key role in delivering accessible cyber resilience support for SMEs. NCRCG’s mission focuses on providing SMEs with practical guidance and tailored support to bolster their cyber defenses.
Chris Ulliott, Chief Information Security Officer at NatWest, emphasised the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and the importance of equipping customers with the right tools and knowledge. He highlighted NCRCG’s offerings as an essential component of the bank’s comprehensive approach to customer cybersecurity, enabling businesses to better defend themselves against evolving threats.
Joanna Goddard, Chief Experience Officer at NCRCG, expressed enthusiasm about the ongoing collaboration, especially timed to coincide with Cyber Security Awareness Month. She noted the strong engagement from NatWest staff — particularly following the positive response to the staff webinar — and praised the bank’s commitment to enhancing the UK’s overall cyber resilience. She also highlighted NatWest’s longstanding role as a National Ambassador, contributing expertise and resources to strengthen collective cybersecurity efforts.
NCRCG works closely with the Home Office, police, academic institutions, and major partners to deliver scalable support through its national and regional centres. Its Ambassador programme enables large organisations like NatWest to contribute directly to improving the UK’s cyber defenses, especially for SMEs lacking dedicated cybersecurity resources. The Centre offers a mix of in-person training tailored to specific industries and online content designed to raise awareness of emerging cyber threats.
Looking ahead, NCRCG and NatWest plan to extend staff engagement programs to additional sectors, with the aim of broadening SMEs’ understanding of cyber risks and enhancing their ability to defend against increasingly complex cyber threats.
