Lucid Software has released data from its latest survey – ‘The Agile advantage: Transforming collaboration for modern teams’ – which uncovers key areas of opportunity for teams to become more agile and deliver business value faster. The data reveals trends, challenges, and opportunities facing knowledge workers in the UK.
The survey found that in 46% of UK businesses, teams can take up to three hours to decide on how to progress business objectives. This suggests firms are wasting money on ineffectual meetings which don’t deliver clear action plans.
Miscommunication and poor planning are also affecting day-to-day work. 41% of respondents cited unclear project requirements or scope changes and miscommunication with colleagues as the top reasons for redoing work. This wastes firms’ resources and means 21% of workers feel their team’s plans only sometimes align with the company’s overall strategic goals.
That said, 45% of workers believe adopting new collaboration tools could reduce the time to reach a decision. However, wholesale change is needed to overcome communication challenges within business. For instance, frameworks like Agile can greatly enhance efficiency, communication and collaboration, yet only 49% of UK businesses have adopted Agile work practices.
“Poor communication and collaboration cost UK businesses valuable time and money, with team members frequently pulled into meetings to rehash the same conversations. The survey found that 69% of respondents who implemented Agile practices into their workflows noted an improvement to team efficiency. This underscores the importance of adopting Agile to enhance collaboration and efficiency across diverse work environments.
