Commsworld, a prominent UK provider of networking and connectivity solutions, has announced the signing of a 15-year contract valued at over £8 million to design, deliver, and maintain a new Wide Area Network (WAN) for West Lothian Council.
This long-term partnership will replace the council’s existing network infrastructure with a state-of-the-art system offering ten times more bandwidth and delivering faster, more reliable, and resilient connectivity.
The upgraded network will serve key parts of the West Lothian Council estate, including schools, libraries, community facilities, and administrative buildings. The improvement aims to bolster the council’s digital backbone, significantly enhancing internet access, data security, system reliability, and the performance of vital public service applications.
Central to this project is Commsworld’s Optical Core Network (OCN), a next-generation fibre infrastructure specifically built to enhance security and resilience for organizations across the UK. The new network will be connected via local Points of Presence (PoPs), reducing latency and improving the performance of cloud applications for schools, public services, and local businesses. This expansion will ensure faster connectivity, lower lag, and better overall service delivery.
This contract continues Commsworld’s successful streak of delivering major digital upgrades for public sector bodies across the UK, including projects in Glasgow, Wigan, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, the Scottish Borders, Dundee, and Northumberland.
