Council adds 230 sites for connection and management by MLL

MLL Telecom has announced that Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council (BCP) has further extended its network services contract until at least the end of 2029. The expanded remit builds on MLL’s longstanding network services partnership with BCP which commenced in 2019 following a competitive tender.

To further optimise operational efficiencies, the new three-year (plus one) contract – procured on the YPO Framework – specifies an additional 230 sites for connection to the Council’s existing wide area network already managed by MLL. Currently, this encompasses 70 sites including Council offices, parks, museums and libraries.

MLL’s breadth of carrier relationships and transparent billing and management processes were key factors behind BCP’s decision to extend MLL’s remit. These are aligned with the Council’s requirement to streamline its supplier management overhead and increase cost savings.

Over the past seven years MLL has successfully consolidated and streamlined the Council’s legacy wide area network estate, inherited following BCP’s creation from the merger of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Borough Councils.

Matt Baker, MLL’s Strategic Client Director, South.

Marc Biondic, Head of IT Infrastructure, BCP Council, said: “We are pleased to see MLL assuming wider responsibility for the management of our network which is aligned with BCP’s strategy of partnering with a single experienced network solutions provider. MLL has a proven track-record of supporting the Council’s evolving network requirements and their easy to navigate billing and management portals will be pivotal to maximizing further operational efficiencies as they take on overall management of the additional sites.”

Matt Baker, MLL’s Strategic Client Director, South, said: “The further extension and growth of our partnership with BCP underlines our holistic approach to network services delivery, from a deep technical expertise and strong carrier relationships to highly transparent client, project and service management processes, augmented by intuitive and transparent productivity tools such as our billing and management portals.”
