Alkira introduces AI-enhanced network management tools with MCP Server and NIA

Alkira has announced the launch of its Alkira Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server alongside Alkira NIA (Network Infrastructure Assistant), an AI co-pilot designed to revolutionise enterprise network management through conversational AI.

These innovations enable organisations to interact with their Alkira Cloud Services Exchange (CSX) deployments via advanced AI assistants, including Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, or directly within the Alkira platform.

As enterprises expand their application and data footprints across multiple clouds, colocation facilities, SaaS providers, partners, branches, and edge locations, the network’s complexity continues to grow. Traditional NetOps approaches — relying on screen-and-script methods — struggle to keep pace, especially as new regions, remote users, segments, and service chains introduce additional points requiring health, security, and capacity validation under strict latency and compliance constraints. The cost of network outages can be staggering, with industry estimates reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars per hour, and the rapid evolution of AI only heightens that risk.

Addressing this challenge, Alkira’s MCP Server and NIA bring a policy-governed, agentless approach to network operations. They surface Alkira’s authoritative control plane as governed MCP tools and deliver guided, auditable workflows that allow teams to ask questions, validate policies, simulate impacts, execute changes, and verify results across a distributed fabric—all without deploying additional hardware, agents, or rewriting existing architectures. This seamless interaction enables operations teams to interpret intent and act with precision, significantly reducing operational steps and accelerating deployment in complex, distributed environments.

“Operations teams need precision, not more interfaces,” said Atif Khan, CTO of Alkira. “Alkira MCP and NIA enable engineers to ask questions, check policies, and apply changes in one governed, auditable flow. This allows teams to interact with their infrastructure as naturally as they would ask a colleague for help, bringing simplicity to the complex world of enterprise networking.”

Together, these solutions transform network operations by making them more intuitive, efficient, and accessible. Alkira MCP exposes control-plane intelligence for natural-language queries related to policy, health, and capacity, while Alkira NIA provides guided, auditable actions within the platform. This combination supports a wide range of high-impact use cases, including rapid incident triage from plain-language symptoms to guided remediation, continuous performance and security monitoring without dashboard hopping, on-demand compliance reporting with audit-ready documentation, real-time configuration explanations, policy validation, and safe optimisation. It also enables shared AI-driven insights, fostering synchronised action across network, operations, and security teams.

Both MCP and NIA integrate securely with Alkira’s CSX platform through robust API and authentication controls, inheriting Alkira’s role-based access, auditing, and security frameworks. These solutions extend AI interaction capabilities without compromising governance or compliance, ensuring support for current AI platforms while maintaining future flexibility and customer choice.
